A UN representative team at a secret detention centre in Trincomolee

A UN working group probing disappearances of people affected by the conflict in Sri Lanka said the government has the opportunity to make sufficient efforts to address the enforced disappearances and provide justice to the victims.
The Working Group headed by its Vice President, Bernard Duhaime visited Sri Lanka on the 9th, at the invitation of the Sri Lankan Government.
They toured the North and East during their visit to gather information on the missing and disappeared during and after the war
