Former President says that he is always with the people of the country


Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that he always stands on behalf of the county’s people.

The former President said so expressing his views to media after the religious rites performed in front of the Anuradhapura Jayasri Sacred Bo Tree in view of the former President’s 70th birthday.

Meanwhile former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been summoned again to appear before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Serious Acts of Corruption and Fraud.

That is in connection with non-payment of money due for advertisements telecast over ITN for former president’s propaganda during the last presidential election.

However former president’s media secretary Rohaan Waeliwita told our news team that the former president would not appear before the Commission today.

That is because the former president is scheduled to visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

However the secretary said further that former president Mahinda Rajapaksa’s lawyers would appear before the commission today.
