Instruction from Prime Minister to set up a police university

Government’s attention has been directed toward the need to set up a university that would educate personnel in police service and persons interested in police criminology.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed the minister of Law and Peace, minister Saagala Ratnaayake to set up a Police Criminal Justice University.
To date, a degree level course in Police Criminology has not been offered by any institutions
The Prime Minister has instructed that the university be set up similar to that of the Police Criminal Justice University in the USA.
Officers serving in the Police Department as well as persons with an interest in this curriculum will be given the opportunity to study at this new institution.
Entry into the course will be determined by GCE A/L examination results.
