Government schools close for term holidays


Government schools will commence their second term holidays from August 1 and are scheduled to reopen on September 1.

Meanwhile, the Advanced Level examinations and the Grade 5 scholarship exams are slated to be held this month.

The Department of Examinations says that the marking of answer scripts will commence on August 30 and continue until September 12.

Commissioner General of Examinations, W.M.N.J. Pushpakumara issuing a communique stated that 15 schools will remain closed during this period.

Meanwhile, 14 other schools scheduled to reopen for the new term will have several classrooms closed in order to carry out the marking of of answer scripts from August 30 to September 12.
