Government gets ready to slash public service salary and pension

The National Trade Union Centre says that the Government was preparing to slash the salaries and pensions of State employees.

Issuing a communiqué NTUC chairman K. D. Laal Kaantha says that the general public contributed greatly for toppling the Rajapaksa regime.

The NTUC Chairman charges however, that the Government is currently evading the fulfillment of pledges given to Government employees.

In the release Lal Kantha says further that a statement Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake made at the 15th annual conference of Inland Revenue Commissioners in Colombo last Sunday is also problematic.

Lal Kantha also said that at that conference the Minister had also stated that paying salaries and pension to Government employees had also become a burden.
