100 million dollar annual loss as a result of unloading fuel at Kolonnawa


The Petroleum Ministry has decided to give priority to using the Muthuraajawela fuel storage complex in unloading petroleum imported to this country.

Currently Petroleum unloading is carried out mainly from the Colombo Harbour up to the Kolonnawa oil warehouse complex.

Petroleum and Gas Minister Chandima Weerakkody said that this took about six to seven days and caused an annual loss of 100 million US dollars.

The Minister said further that because of this, petroleum unloading was expected to begin at the Muturajawela fuel warehouse within the next two months.
