A contentious offside decision frustrated Stockport County in the local derby against Curzon Ashton, with boss Neil Young admitting he was “despondent” after the National League North draw.
Micah Evans’ late finish from a Joe Garvin cross was disallowed by the referee’s assistant in what would have been the winner in the stalemate – but replays later showed that the Hatters winger was onside.
“Micah looked onside, I’ve spoken to him afterwards and he’s told me he’s a mile onside,” said Young.
“Joe (Garvin) has backed him up on that, he’s come from behind the defender.”
“I don’t want to get talking about officials again, I think we’ve seen that we’ve scored a perfectly good goal but we are where we are.”
The draw keeps County in fourth place, six points behind leaders Solihull Moors – who Young’s side travel to face on Halloween in two weeks.
