Kidnapped Child: Police fail to make headway


Police say that they are yet to receive any information regarding the abduction of a four-year-old boy in the Katugampola area in Meegalewa, Galgamuwa.

The Police Media Unit stated that five teams have been deployed to investigate the incident. The unit also noted that statements have been recorded from several individuals in this regard.

The child was abducted by four individuals who arrived on two motorbikes. The parents of the boy were injured in the incident.


Police today sought help from the people to find the four-year-old Damindu Yasen Ekanayake who was alleged to have been kidnapped by four unidentified men after assaulting his parents on Monday night.

The little boy resided with his parents at the Katugampalagama village in Meegalewa.

The Meegalewa Police said the men were wearing masks and had forcibly entered the boy’s home. The kidnappers have not demanded any ransom and the child’s whereabouts are still unknown.

Police headquarters requested the public to inform the nearest police station or to Senior DIG Jagath Abeygunawardane on 0718137007 or SSP Chandana Alahakoon on 0774784635 in case they had any information on the whereabouts of the child.
