IGP and Director of the CID to court in connection with the Eknaligoda case


The IGP and the Director of the CID appeared before Appeal Court today following notices issued on them recently.

The notices issued on the two after considering four habeas copus petitions filed by the wives of four army officers who are currently detained by the CID in connection with the disappearance of journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda.

The respondents were noticed to appear before Court when the case was taken before Court on October 9th.

When the case was taken before Appeal Court Chairman Justice Vijitha Malalgoda, the senior lawyer appeared on behalf of the Attorney General’s Department apologized to Court for the inability of the respondents to appear in the court on the previous hearing day.

Having fixed the next hearing for November 19th, the Court informed relevant parties to file objections if any on that day.
