Avant Garde vessel handed over to Police anchored in Galle harbour

Police said that Avent Garde’s armory vessel handed over for police investigation had anchored at the Galle harbour yesterday.
Galle Harbour Police said that the ship had entered the Galle harbour by last afternoon.
While the navy inspected this vessel on October 6th on suspicion as it sailed on close to the Galle Harbour with the Sri Lankan Flag, subsequently took it to its custody alleging that the vessel had exchanged contradictory information.
The navy completed the investigation and handed over the relevant report to the Defence Ministry recently.
Meanwhile investigations with regard to Avant Garde’s armory vessel has commenced under DIG Galle District.
Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said 33 crew members including five foreigners were on board.
He also stated, according to available information there were 816, T-56 fire arms and nearly 200 thousand rounds in the vessel.
