Wednesday, 14 October 2015 - 8:19

The TNA says that the Government should within a week respond to the fast, Tamil detainees have launched in three prisons demanding their release.
TNA media spokesman MP M. A. Sumanthiran said that if the Government abolishes the Prevention of Terrorism Act, before the abolishment of the Act, the Government should release the prisoners detained under this charge.
148 Tamil detainees in the Colombo Magazine, Anuradhapura and Batticaloa prisons launched refraining from food from day-before-yesterday demanding their release.
However this fast is still continuing.
Prisons Commissioner General Rohana Pushpakumara said that instant solutions could not be provided for these problems.
The Commissioner General said that persons connected with wartime terrorist activities were also among these detainees.
