Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra who has been roped in as the first Indian ambassador of Tourism New Zealand started the first day of his maiden trip to the island nation by attempting an adrenaline-pumping activity.
Siddharth who landed in New Zealand capital Auckland on Sunday (October 11) morning to a warm welcome, within an hour walked around the perimeter of the city’s tallest building, the Sky Tower at a height of 192 meters. Siddharth’s buddies had told him that he must indulge in maximum number of sports activities as possible during his trip to the kiwi land.
An adventure sports junkie, Siddharth said on completion of his first ever adventure activity in the country said, "Walking around the Sky Tower, which is the tallest building in the southern hemisphere, was absolutely fantastic. I couldn't have asked for a better kick-start for my trip, literally felt like living life on the edge.” He also added that he will suggest his ‘Brothers’ co-star Akshay Kumar to try this.
“My experience was amazing. It is a one-of-its-kind activity. Akshay paaji would want to do it definitely, and he would do it easily! I would surely tell him, ‘Akshay sir, please check this out’,” the ‘Ek Villain’ actor was quoted as saying.
The Sky Tower stands at 328 metres tall in the heart of Auckland’s central city. From the height, Siddharth got a bird’s eye view of the picturesque city with its hills, harbour and the islands beyond. While the 30-year-old actor admitted that the thought of walking without handrails was scary at first, she said, “After a point, it becomes such a surreal experience to lean back and let go…it’s so liberating…living on the edge.”
Siddharth is not scared of heights, but he feels that if people who have height phobia could attempt this ‘safe adventure’, the experience could help them let go of it. “It’s a great mix of adventure sport and taking in a view of the city,” he was quoted.
During his week-long trip to New Zealand, Siddharth will soak in the culture, history, adventure, wildlife and hospitality of the country which attracts thousands of tourists from India every year.
Siddharth who completed the first scheduled of his film ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ in Glasgow a few days ago will be next seen in Shakun Batra’s ‘Kapoor & Sons’ which also stars Alia Bhatt, Fawad Khan and veteran actor Rishi Kapoor.
