The report of the investigation conducted by the Navy on the Avante Garde ship which concealed facts and arrived at the Galle port carrying weaponry, has been submitted to the Ministry of Defense today.
Secretary of the Ministry Karunasena Hettiarachchi told us at Hiru News that he received the report this morning.
He further said that the facts mentioned in the report will be inspected through an independent committee consisting of three persons.
The Navy had suspicions regarding this ship which had been sailing in the vicinity of the Galle shore on the 6th last October with the Sri Lankan flag flying. Accordingly a group of Navy officers visited the ship for inspection.
Later the captain of the ship who claimed himself to be a Sri Lankan was revealed to be a Ukrainian national. Also it was revealed that the ship had brought weaponry to hand over to Rakna Lanka.
