Minister Range Bandara says that the reason behind the bungling of Seya’s murder case was mainly due to the unreasonable pressure exercised upon low ranked officers by politicians, media and high rank police officers.
The Minister stresses that in the absence of eye witness’ evidence, scientific evidence is of chief importance.
Also the Minister says that the technological facilities provided for scientific experimentation is very limited in the country which hinders speedy obtaining of results.
The minister further said that the strange occurrences during the previous government’s regime which included suspects being taken to show weaponry and being shot, suspects committing suicide by jumping into rivers with handcuffs on, could not be repeated in Good Governance and that it is the reason behind this kind of botches occurring by the police.
