DNA tests of Kondaya does not match with Seya


The Minuwangoda Magistrate D.A. Ruwan Pathirana declared today that DNA of a main suspect of the Kotadeniyawa murder, Dunesh Priyashantha alias Kondaya and the victim does not match.

The DNA report of Kondaya was submitted by the CID to Court this morning. 

However the two suspects, Kondaya and his elder brother Saman Jayalath have been remanded until October 19th.

Earlier, Court released a 17-year old student and a father of one after their DNA did not match. In between, Dunesh Priyashantha alias was arrested in suspicious of the murder.

Various reports published quoting Kondaya as confessing to the murder.

However the Court declared this morning that Kondaya’s DNA was also not matched with the victim.

Later police arrested Kondaya’s elder brother Saman Jayalath. He had confessed to police that he would take the full responsibility of the murder.

After the suspect confessed before the Minuwangoda Magistrate for over two hours, he was also produced for a DNA at Genetech at Borella yesterday. The test report of suspect Saman Jayalath is yet to be released.

Meanwhile, the student who was released by Court wrote to the IGP yesterday with copies to the President and the minister of Law and Order.

In his letter, the student requested the IGP to take action to return his belongings including three mobile phones, several DVDs and a gem studded chain he was wearing to repel misfortune. Police had seized them at the time of his arrest.
